Finney Architects (FA) is passionate about education and has played a key role as partners with a number of K-12 School Districts throughout northern California and the Central Coast by creating environments that are conducive to inspiration, learning and discovery. We specialize in Educational Design and Construction with current clients such as Lucia Mar Unified School District, Linden Unified School District, Merced-River School District, Franklin-McKinley School District, Las Lomitas School District, Mount Pleasant School District, Oak Grove School District, Pajaro Valley School District, Portola Valley School District, San Ramon Unified School District, Monterey Peninsula School District, San Lorenzo Valley School District, and Santa Rosa Jr. College. 99% of our projects are educational facilities new and renovation.
Finney Architects provides architectural, planning, interiors, needs assessments, master plans and landscape architectural services, with a primary focus on K-12 and community colleges. All of our projects are in the educational field. FA specializes in Needs Assessments, Master Plans, Educational Specifications, DSA, CDE and all associated requirements to get your projects approved, constructed and closed with certification.

The firm, a California Corporation, established in January 1957 under the name Higgins and Root Architects, is an award-winning design firm with a reputation for excellence and professionalism. With its main office in Campbell, CA, the firm serves clients throughout Northern California and the Central Coast. The firm is stable and has been in the same building for 40 years. We have Satellite offices at the central coast and the greater Sacramento area. FA currently has 6 licensed Architects and a licensed landscape Architect with a staff of 20.
The firm’s emphasis and training is focused on trust and keeping the client satisfied. Our team works hard to document the goals of the School District to find to best design solution meeting the intended budget. We strive to satisfy the complex design requirements in the field of education within the required budget and time frames. We incorporate the latest construction and sustainable technologies in creating inspirational and functional facilities.
We are currently working on several projects. Many are under construction valued at approximately $40 million. Several of our team members will be reserved to gear up to work on your future projects.
Most of our drawings and specifications will be produced in our office in Campbell, California, whereas client relations, meetings, site investigation will be performed from the San Luis Obispo office or Sacramento office if the work is closer to one of those offices.
